Default Clipboard will not accept a second input

A windows XP system has a problem with the clipboard. It will accept a copy just the once and then refuse to accept a new copy; attempts to copy after the first copy do not copy the text into the clipboard and pasting just pastes the contents of the first copy. A reboot clears this as does the delete command in the clipboard viewer.
This appears to happen most often when copying to or from emails handled by Windows Live Mail.
Any ideas anyone? Is this an issue with the Mail handler or with clipboard?

I've see other systems have trouble copy/paste email or web pages where
the content is UTF encoded.

Perform the first copy and then paste into notepad and attach the file for review.

Thanks Jobeard - the offending PC is not here where I am today so I'll try and get a copy later. It appears that the clipboard in office 2007 does work properly so I am inclined to blame Live Mail (which has caused me more annoyance that anything else recently!)

With so many other choices for email, it boggles my pea brain that MS elects to compete in a crowded marketplace -- still more puzzling is why users still follow MS in their walk into the sea.

I don't like either of their offerings but I don't make the choice - my clients do that so I have to live with the consequences. Have you tried The Bat?
