Default How to disable real time monitoring...

Remember, after you are clean to turn back on any protection that you have disabled:

Just click on the name of the program whose real time monitoring you would like to disable

Antivirus
Avira Antivir
Avast Antivirus
AVG 8 Antivirus
Windows Live One Care
Norton

Antispyware
Spybot Teatimer
Adaware Ad-Watch
Counterspy

Default How to disable Avira Antivir Real time monitoring

How to disable Avira Antivir:
  • Right Click on the (Avira Antivir Icon) in the system tray
  • This will bring up the Avira Antivir Options menu
  • Uncheck the AntiVir Guard enable by clicking on it one time

Default Disable Avast! Antivirus Real time monitoring

How to disable Avast! Antivirus:
  • Right Click on the (Avast Antivirus Logo) in the system tray
  • This will bring up the Avast Antivirus options menu


  • Click once to highlight "Stop On-Access Protection"

Default How to disable AVG real time monitoring

How to disable AVG Antivirus:
  • Right Click on the (AVG logo) in the system tray
  • This will bring up the AVG Antivirus options menu
  • Click on "Open AVG User Interface" to bring up the AVG GUI
  • Double Click on the Resident Shield Icon, which will bring up the screen to disable real time protection


  • Uncheck "Resident Shield Active" and click "Save changes" as noted in the screen shot below

Default Disable Windows Live Onecare

Disable Windows Live OneCare
  • Launch Windows Live One Care
  • From the main screen - click View or change settings, and then click the Antivirus tab.
  • Click Off under the section labeled Antivirus Monitoring
  • Clear the Monitor for virus-like behavior during Antivirus monitoring check box to disable real-time monitoring and protection.
  • Click Apply and close OneCare

Default How to disable Teatimer

Disable Teatimer
  • Right click the (Spybot -SD Resident Icon) located in your system tray
  • This will bring up the spybot options menu, uncheck Resident Protection
  • Launch Spybot S&D Program
  • Click on Mode at the top and make sure that Advanced is checked
  • Expand the Tools tab in the left pane
  • Single click on the Resident Icon also in the left pane
  • Uncheck Resident "TeaTimer" (Protection of over-all system settings) Active
  • Close spybot

Default How to disable Ad-Watch

Disable Ad-Watch
  • Right-click on the (Ad-Watch icon) in the system tray
  • Choose Settings from the Ad-watch options menu
  • Make sure you are on the General Settings tab, turn OFF (noted with a red X) the option to "Load Ad-Watch at Startup"
  • In the left hand menu, click on the Status button
  • Turn OFF (noted with a red x) the option for "Regshield"
  • Close Ad-watch
  • Right-click on the (Ad-Watch icon) shield again down in the system tray
  • Choose "Turn off Ad-Watch" from the drop menu

Default How to disable Counterspy

Disable Counter Spy Real time monitoring:
  • Right-click on the (CounterSpy icon) in the sytem tray.
  • Hover your mouse over "Active protection"
  • A menu will slide out and then you need to left click on "Disable Active Protection"
  • Disabling CS Active Protection should cause the systray icon to turn orange/red and hovering your mousing over the icon will then state "Active protection is disabled".

Default How to disable Norton

Disable Norton AntiVirus

Disable Norton AntiVirus Service by:
1. Click Start > Settings > Control Panel.
2. Double-click Administrative Tools.
3. Double-click the Services icon.
4. Search the list of services to find Symantec SPBBC SVC.
5. Double-click this service to open.
6. Set the Startup type to Disable.
7. Click OK to close the service Properties dialog box.
8. Close the remaining dialogs.
9. Reboot computer.

Disable the Norton AntiVirus Auto-Protect feature by:
1. Right-mouse click the Norton AntiVirus icon in the system tray.
2. Select Auto-Protect option.
3. Set the Select the duration option to Until system restart.
4. Click OK

Disable Norton AntiVirus Script Blocking feature by:
1. Right-mouse click the Norton AntiVirus icon in the system tray.
2. Select Norton AntiVirus Options.
3. Under System, click Script Blocking.
4. Make sure Enable Script Blocking option is de-selected.
5. Click OK.
