Default vimax ad removal stuck at step 5

I am trying to follow the preliminary removal steps to remove the vimax virus but malewarebytes antimalware wont open now that it is installed and i have tried downloading it at two different places.

also when trying to use your links to access the download for malewarebytes my computer redirects me to a search engine every time. (it does this all the time can barely ever go to the right page!!)

Hi,

sorry for the delay. 3 options to go with...

1) Please try to download the file onto a usb drive from a different, non-infected computer, then transfer it to the infected one and see if you can get it to run.

2) Try renaming the file you click to run the install. mbam-setup.exe - after downloading right click -> rename it to something different like blonde.exe

3) If it still wont run try running superantispyware first:

SuperAntiSpyware Home Edition Free Version
  • Please download SuperAntiSpyware from HERE
  • Launch SuperAntiSpyware and click on 'Check for updates'.
  • Wait for the updates to be installed
  • On the main screen click on 'Scan your computer'.
  • Check: 'Perform Complete Scan then Click 'Next' to start the scan.
  • Superantispyware will now scan your computer, when it's finished it will list all/any infections found.
  • Make sure everything found has a checkmark next to it,then press 'Next'.
  • Click on 'Finish' when you've done.

It's possible that the program will ask you to reboot in order to delete some files.

Obtain the SuperAntiSpyware log as follows:
    Click on 'Preferences'.
    Click on the 'Statistics/Logs' tab.
Under 'Scanner Logs' double click on 'SuperAntiSpyware Scan Log'.
It will then open in your default text editor, such as Notepad.
