Default Windows 7 endless reboot upgrade problems

It seems that many people are experiencing problems upgrading from Vista to Windows 7.

An answer has yet to be found for all users, who began reporting the problem last Friday after watching the upgrade stall two-thirds of the way through the process. Most users said that their PCs had displayed an error that claimed the upgrade had been unsuccessful and that Vista would be restored. Instead, their PCs again booted to the Windows 7 setup process, failed, then restarted the vicious cycle.

Here is the thread on Microsoft's forums where users continue to experience problems. And as of today no solution has been posted yet - so tempting to get a copy and try to duplicate their issue. I just can't bring myself to spend the money to try and get the upgrade to fail.

My upgrade worked like a charm.

I'm working with a few people at the moment running the update through a virtual machine and the main area at the moment seems to be download users burning the disk at to hight a rate.

But other users are reporting the problem with store bought upgrades so its not just the root.
