| The POST sequence (Power On Self Test) is where the hardware tests are performed. Once past that and the logo with the horizontal racetrack appears, you're into Windows itself. The KB/mouse/ram tests all occur during POST and as it completes, there may be one beep (if so configured in the BIOS) to signal success. More than one or if POST stalls before the beep, then there's something not quite right. The obvious test would be to have only ONE mouse/kb attached and then start the system.
