| Also a pdf file sent by email as an attachment will not open either. AV is Avira Home Free - not known for being unhelpful... I know the file itself is OK as it will download on another machine. Any help much appreciated! |

| solve the standalone PDF issue before addressing email or webpage access. recommend UNinstall PDFreader, downloading a new copy and reinstalling. consider using Foxit Reader instead Then find a PDF on your system and <dbl>click on it -- it should open correctly. Once that works, try an email attachment -- if that works, the webpages will too.
