Anyone any ideas why a system with both IE7 and FF 3 should just sit there when asked to download a .pdf file?
Also a pdf file sent by email as an attachment will not open either.
AV is Avira Home Free - not known for being unhelpful...
I know the file itself is OK as it will download on another machine.
Any help much appreciated!

solve the standalone PDF issue before addressing email or webpage access.

recommend UNinstall PDFreader, downloading a new copy and reinstalling.
consider using Foxit Reader instead


Then find a PDF on your system and <dbl>click on it -- it should open correctly.
Once that works, try an email attachment -- if that works, the webpages will too.
